NANOMATERIALS COMPANY – The Philadelphia Metropolitan area’s first nanotechnology company – organized in 1995 and incorporated in 1999 using private investments and a small investment from Ben Franklin Technology Partners.  Nanomaterials derived its process technology from key technical achievements at Los Alamos National Laboratory and has continuously expanded its technology base – our business is devoted to the exploitation of materials properties exhibited when its architecture is on the nanometer scale and to the design and manufacture of proprietary enabling processing equipment.

We specialize in the production of nanomaterials having complex composition and exacting particle size and particle size distribution and tailored surface characteristics.  Additionally we also provide customers with materials processing solutions and equipment to meet the needs of the emerging nanomaterials and ultra high purity market.      

COMPLEX NANOPOWDERS

For every application of nanopowders having simple (single cation) composition it is estimated there are over 100 applications for nanopowders having complex composition (multi cation).  Nanomaterials Company has been the sole supplier of complex oxides and nitrides for over 5 years and can deliver nanopowders having virtually any composition.  Follow the Nanomaterials link here or above for a list of compounds currently in our repertoire.

Nanomaterials' products are being applied by government, industrial and academic laboratories for the development of new products in the area of aerospace, cryogenics, defense, electronics, energy generation and storage, fuel cells, optics, polymers and semiconductors.  In today’s rapidly expanding nanotechnology market the depth and breadth of the application of our products is in a state of continuous evolution.

PROCESS TECHNOLOGY

Nanomaterials continuously hones its process technology to produce materials of exacting characteristics.  Our process technologies include powder production reactors, powder coating and collection, purification and consolidation processors.  Additionally, we push the frontiers of nanoparticle production through the combination of multidisciplinary concepts to achieve materials propertied demanded by you.

Our business model is predicated on the assumption that materials and materials processing tools drive the nanotechnology revolution (see About Us).  Current market analyses substantiate this assumption.  By developing new materials, new materials processes and meeting the consumer’s needs (the real driver for emerging nanotechnology), Nanomaterials will continue to increase its share of this exploding market.

APPLICATIONS

Cryogenic Liquid Storage Matrices:  Nanomaterials has developed a host of cryogenic liquid storage matrices which extend the storage hold time of cryogenic liquids up to 45% longer than conventional storage systems, and we continue to refine these materials with the expectation that hold time increases will exceed 100% during the first half of 2005.

Rapid Consolidation Nanopowders:  We are currently developing a rapid consolidation process which will allow for the production of fully dense, very large structures (>1 m²) having uniform nanostructure. 

Ultra High Purity Materials:  We have developed a family of sublimation-based purification processors which will are currently capable of delivering purification factors in excess of 10 million, and ultimately will deliver chemicals having impurity levels in the parts per quadrillion (ppq) range.
